It is our belief that we cannot “preserve, protect, and defend" our constitution unless we know what is in it, and unless we remain constantly mindful of its timeless principles, and of the reasons why the great English, statesman, William Gladstone declared it to be the greatest work ever struck off by the hand of man.
Those of us at Know Your Constitution couldn’t agree more, and that is why we are encouraging each and every one of you to host a Know Your Constitution event (call it a party, a forum, a reading, a workshop, whatever you chose), a gather in which you can either read the constitution to one another; or else listen to it by simply downloading The Living Constitution, a dramatic reading of the Constitution, which was first released during the Bicentenial summer of 1976, and which is accompanied by an original musical score. We heartily recommend the latter, but the important thing is that we gather in community, and that we read our Constitution together.
Good luck with your event, and never forget that the future of our great republic depends on an informed citizenry, and the active participation of liberty-loving Americans like yourselves.
To host your own Know Your Constitution event all you need to do is select a location (your home, your local library, or coffee shop, your church basement) and invite your friends and neighbors in listening to Our Living Constitution (30 mins audio). You can conduct your event as formally, or as informally, as you chose, and if you know someone with constitutional expertise you may want to invite them to speak, and/or to lead the group in discussion after the reading has concluded. Just remember, however, that the presence of a expert is in no way necessary, and that the only most important thing to remember is that the constitution belongs to “We the people”, and revere it if our republic is to stand.
